We’re all different.
At Capability Sailing we see people, not labels.

Opportunities for people of all abilities

Capability Sailing exists to provide opportunities for people of all abilities and backgrounds to experience the joy of sailing. Based at Barry Community Water Activity Sailing Centre in the Vale of Glamorgan, we offer taster sails and courses.

We particularly encourage disabled people to come along and sail with us, but we think the real magic happens when people of all abilities and backgrounds get together on the water. With the wind in your sails, you’ll soon make friends and find out just how amazing it is to be part of a diverse team.

We can’t wait to welcome you on board our lovely sailing yacht ‘Artemis’. She is a ‘Hawk 20’, a stable, safe yacht that you will want to go out in again and again.

When you arrive at the sailing centre, you’ll be greeted by friendly, professional staff, including your RYA qualified sailing coach who will be with you at all times on the water. We’ll give you some safety gear and talk to you about what to expect and how to get the most out of your time with us. Before you know it, you’ll be on the water and sailing. Don’t forget to bring someone along to take photos of your brilliant smile as you sail past!

Our links with other clubs and organisations mean that there are lots of opportunities to take your sailing to the next level if you want to.

We are a not for profit organisation, and fundraise to keep our costs as low as possible. Please see our fundraising page if you can help us in any way.
